Ogilvy & Mather.
Although the Information Society presentations ended today, I'm going to sneak under the finishing line. While casually looking at stuff on youtube today, I stumbled upon a commercial for Thai Life Insurance. It was about a boy and his father, and at first it looked like your average cheesy insurance ad. But the fact is that it's really well made and it was actually quite touching. I ended up watching the whole series of thai insurance commercials, and they were all stunning and captivating.
I watched 5, but there are actually more of them on youtube. One of the comments on one of the videos said, "thai insurance stop toying with my feeling", and after watching them I can only ditto that. Some of them are bordering to cheesy, but most of them are well worth the watch and probably made Thai Life Insurances a lot richer.
One of the videos, as well as an ad forum directed my towards a company called Ogilvy & Mather, which is a big international company with offices in 161 cities. Ogilvy was founded by this guy called David Ogilvy who apperently has been called the father of advertising. Ogilvy seems like a giant as far as regular advertising goes, so I thought I might as well share the find. They've done a few cool stuff, but their website only really showcase the things from the biggest clients. Also, their website was filled with a lot of text that didn't really tell you anything, so I actually had to look them up in wikipedia to get an idea of what they were like.
They're also the people behind the Dove Evolution viral that everyone by know probably already has seen, and also some of you might remember two chinese students who lipsinced and danced to backstreetboy songs. Ogilvy & Mathers used them in a motorola ad that apperently was very successful.
Seems like something everyone could find interesting, they're a international company after all.
